Last Sunday, Jon Stewart, host of “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, made an appearance on Chris Wallace’s FOX News program, aptly entitled “FOX News Sunday.” Somewhere around 2 seconds into the interview, the fireworks began as Wallace continuously hounded an unrepentant Stewart about the comedian’s constant attacks on FOX News. Perhaps the most telling statement Stewart made is one that pretty much sums up his rather dim view of major media outlets today – “That’s the embarrassment. The embarrassment is that I’m give credibility in this world because of the the disappointment that the public has in what the news media does.”
I’m not quite ready to anoint Jon Stewart the next Mark Twain, as some guests of Chris Matthews would later gladly do, but the guy is sharp. Watch for yourself.
