Why bother?

I can’t be the only one, right? I can’t be the only person that hates the partisan bickering that that causes our “leadership” in Washington to wallow in its inability to move this nation forward. OF course I’m not. There are plenty of people out there, stuck somewhere between the far left and the far right who understand that democracies only work when some argument, some point of view is agreed upon and a decision is made.

With the media and professional journalism as disparate on political matters as they are, a simple press of a button on a remote will take the viewer from one side of any particular issue to the diametrically opposing side, and it can be quite difficult to find someone willing to espouse an opinion somewhere in the middle. Apparently, compromise wins ratings battles about as well as it does elections.

That’s the nature of the beast, of course. Politicians are as diverse as the constituencies that they represent, so complete agreement on any particular topic is rarely, if ever, possible. But politics is supposed to be the “art of the possible,” isn’t it? Instead it seems more like the “art of lying your face off if it means that you’ll get re-elected, consequences for the nation, state or city be damned.” So here I am typing away into the ether, to see who else out there has anything to say about our current political state.

Your thoughts, whatever they may be, on the topics that I bring up are welcome, so long as they’re civil, and feel free to fat-check me should I stray from opinion to something more objective. Of course, you should also be aware that I’m pretty much right about everything, all the time – it’s kinda my thing. ;)
